Niten Ichi-ryu

"Niten" was another name for Miyamoto Musashi*.

Niten Ichi-ryu thus means "Musashi's unique fighting style."

It is a general term for the swordsmanship techniques of Musashi.

Miyamoto Musashi (1584-1645) was a master swordsman active in the early 17th century. With a record of 60 undefeated duels, he has long been loved by the Japanese as Japan's greatest swordsman. He is also renowned as a talented artist who worked in painting, calligraphy, and traditional crafts.

We will be joined by Grand Master Kazunori Matsunaga, the 17th Head of the Tsuruta School of Miyamoto Musashi's Niten Ichi-ryu and Grand Master Akinori Matsunaga, the 18th Head of the Tsuruta School of Miyamoto Musashi's Niten Ichi-ryu
